At Viano Decor, our mission is to bring inspiration and transformation to every space in a home. When we find a community organization that aligns with this mission and is dedicated to uplifting others, we jump on the opportunity to partner, donate, and give back.

In this post, we’ll be sharing with you about our ongoing collaboration with an organization called A Sense of Home. Based in Los Angeles. A Sense of Home (ASOH) tackles the unique housing challenges faced by former foster youth. Their mission is to find and design warm and welcoming homes for adults aging out of foster care.

There is a significant need for affordable housing for young adults, particularly in California. As a company that provides home staging services in California, we are quite aware that 12 of the nation's 25 most expensive cities are in this stage. This challenge to find affordable housing is magnified when you consider that between 25% and 50% of individuals experiencing homelessness today have previously been in foster care.

When we heard that ASOH was working on this pressing need, we didn’t hesitate to team up with them. As a professional home staging company, we typically reassess inventory and hold an annual warehouse sale. At the time, we had some unsold furniture and household goods just waiting to be repurposed and donated to the right homes. A fellow stager recommended ASOH to us and we’ve been involved in their local community efforts ever since.

Since last October, our furniture pieces have been placed and cherished in over four homes, with our most recent donation made in February.

For us, it’s been incredibly rewarding and humbling to be part of a team that is dedicated to helping young adults get a start in life in their first home after the foster care system.  By helping these young adults create their own beautiful spaces and transition smoothly in their new homes, we take proactive measures to prevent and lower homelessness among this generation.
